title: "Price Action Mastery for Forex Day Traders"

Forget the clutter of MACD, RSI, and Bollinger Bands. True mastery in forex day trading comes from reading the tape and understanding bare naked price action.

Price action trading is the discipline of making all your trading decisions from a stripped-down, clean "naked" chart. No lagging indicators, just candlesticks, volume, and support/resistance levels.

Key Pillars of Price Action

1. Market Phases

The market is always in one of four phases:

  1. Accumulation: Smart money buying quietly within a range.
  2. Advancing (Markup): An aggressive uptrend breaking resistance.
  3. Distribution: Smart money selling quietly within a top range.
  4. Declining (Markdown): An aggressive downtrend breaking support.

Identifying the phase on a higher timeframe (HTF) like the 4H or Daily chart dictates whether you should be looking for long setups, short setups, or staying out of the market entirely.

2. Candlestick Anatomy and Context

A pin bar (hammer) is meaningless if it prints in the middle of a range. However, a massive pin bar rejecting a major daily support level with high volume is a powerful price action signal. Context is everything. You must look at the wick rejections to understand where buyers or sellers are aggressively stepping in.

3. Supply and Demand Zones

Instead of drawing thin lines for support and resistance, price action traders draw zones. These zones represent areas where massive imbalance occurred between buyers and sellers in the past. When price returns to a fresh supply zone, day traders look for LTF rejection patterns to short the market.

Broker Execution is Critical

Price action trading often requires immediate market execution when a zone is tapped. If you are trading with a dealing desk (market maker) broker, you may experience requotes or slippage when trying to execute near major support/resistance zones.

It is highly recommended to use true ECN brokers like IC Markets or Pepperstone when trading pure price action, as their raw spreads and sub-40ms execution times ensure your orders are filled precisely at the levels you chart on TradingView.
